Bowling Alley Equipment
So, you have tried ten-pin bowling and have decided that this is the
sport for you. Great! The only thing is, you do not like the fact that you
have to rent bowling equipment. Well, if you choose to purchase your own
equipment, you will never have to rent again. Just like with other sports,
there is certain equipment needed in order to play your best and even set
foot on a bowling alley.
The Bowling Ball
A bowling ball is a lot different from other balls. Bowling balls are made
from rubber, plastic, or urethane, or a combination of these materials. All
ten-pin bowling balls have three holes carved or drilled into them forming a
loose triangle. The bottom hole is for the thumb and the two top holes are
for the ring and middle finger. Most bowling alleys tend to offer free
balls, but you have to share them with other bowlers. That is why many avid
bowlers opt to have their own ball. That way, they can actually have the
holes customized to fit their own
fingers. Some bowlers even get their names or initials emblazoned on their
personal bowling balls.
Bowling balls come in a variety of colors and styles for both children and
adults, male and female. If you are a young boy just starting to experience
the sport of bowling, you can choose a lighter-weight ball with your
favorite cartoon character on it. If you are an adult female and enjoy a
feminize touch, you can choose a clear bowling ball with a pink rose inside.
Our favorite is the classic eyeball bowling ball. We love to show up to the
bowling alley with this one and receive smiles from the other bowlers! To
check out all of your bowling ball options, hop on the Internet at
www.bowlingball.com. Bowling Ball.com is sure to have a balling ball right
up your alley (Pun! Pun!).
The Bowling Shoes
Most bowling alleys have the same rule: you must wear bowling shoes before
you step out onto the bowling lane. For most bowlers, this means taking
their normal shoes off, and putting on the rental shoes that the bowling
alley provides. Many people do not like the idea of sharing shoes, so they
purchase their own bowling shoes.
Years ago, all bowling shoes were usually blue and red and just plain funny
looking. And those are the ones most bowling alleys carry for their patrons.
However, nowadays, you can purchase bowling shoes that look like regular
sneakers. Go to any Dick’s Sporting Goods and ask for the bowling section or
shoe section. You will be surprised at the variety of modern men’s and
women’s bowling shoes. But, for those of you who still prefer the old-school
look, but with a modern flair, try the Etonic Stabilite Men’s Action
Black/Blue Right Hand at Bowling.com at www.bowling.com.
The Bowling Gloves
Those who are passionate about bowling and who make an appearance at the
their local bowling alley at least once a week, say that bowling gloves are
a necessity if you want to bowl a perfect score. Bowling gloves are
different than regular gloves because they are missing the fabric covering
for the middle and ring fingers and thumbs.
Bowlers can still place their fingers inside of the balls, and also have a
better grip on the ball thanks to the gloves. You can find a nice selection
of bowling gloves, with or without wrist support, at www.bowlersparadise.com.
Well, that about covers the main equipment that you need to go bowling. You
can always pick various accessories and cleaners for your equipment, too.
Don’t forget to keep your equipment in top-notch shape by buying bags for
your ball and shoes. When you keep your equipment in excellent condition, it
will reflect on your game. Now, on to the bowling alley!
